The Heart of the Lakes
Annandale is a charming Central Minnesota community, rich in vacation history and treasured for its plentiful lakes and friendly faces. Home to beautiful parks, a vibrant business district and a historic 4th of July celebration - Annandale is loved for these things and much more. Our convenient location a half hour South of St. Cloud and an hour West of the Twin Cities make the opportunities of these cities just a short drive away. Yet living here offers residents a wonderful lifestyle all its own.
26 scenic lakes lie within a 10-mile radius of town, giving Annandale its well-known nickname, “The Heart of the Lakes.” Annandale has attracted vacationers and year-round residents alike since its incorporation in 1888. Beautiful surroundings and its proximity to the Twin Cities put what was then a small community on the map, luring visitors from the metro and beyond. For many years black and silver arrow signs directed those in search of relaxation, our way. More than 30 lakeside resorts once operated in the Annandale Area, many renting lakeside cabins with meals and boat rentals for as little as $5 a day.
Today countless families escape the city to vacation at lake homes and cabins that dot the shores of our lakes. They come to enjoy what our year-round residents take pleasure in on a daily basis – the peace of quiet country mornings, a slower, more relaxed pace of life and beautiful natural surroundings. In addition, thousands visit Annandale every summer for our fantastic 4th of July celebration and the Heart of the Lakes Triathalon, the largest in the state held here on the third Sunday in July.
Local residents value our established businesses, our exceptional schools, and our quality health services. Recreational opportunities are endless, from excellent year round fishing to fine golf courses - there is something here for everyone.
